Life is Better With Blondell

Most blondes leave me cold, but not Joan Blondell -- she was a warm blonde. She had spark and pep, and she lights up any scene in any movie she appears in, regardless of the size of the role. Here is a publicity photo for the 1931 Warner Bros. comedy, "Blonde Crazy", in which she starred alongside James Cagney (it was their fourth of seven films together) ... see if you can resist the impulses she wracks upon your feeble bodies, men:



Also in 1931, she appeared with Barbara Stanwyck in the crazy but super fun melodrama "Night Nurse". This is an amazing movie. In it there was not one, not two, but THREE scenes featuring Joan and Barbara in nothing but their underwear. It's not easy to steal scenes from Barbara Stanwyck, especially when various stages of undress are involved, but Joan achieved the impossible.
